The old saying “Remember that you are Jews.” is another adage by which to remember the Torah. We are Jews and to prevent assimilation our ancient laws required that the study of Torah be a life long obligation and to teach it to the young.
At Bet Breira the old melds with the new and we take responsibility for the education of our young. Our own temple tradition has always been to provide education and learning for everyone. In keeping with that life-long obligation to insure the remembrance of the Torah we provide an enormous amount of educational opportunities to our congregation and the community.
From our award winning religious school, adult education classes, Scholar in Residence program and our unique Spirituality Center we are dedicated to the pursuit of communal religious education as well as the personal and spiritual development of knowledge and experience through a variety of academic and non-academic programs. We are at the forefront of Judaic education offering traditional understanding and modern religious philosophy.
Our congregants can learn to read from the Torah for the High Holy Days. Adult Bar and Bat Mitzvah classes are in keeping with Jewish tradition to give those congregants who have not had this life cycle experience or for those who want to renew their commitment to the study of Torah the opportunity to do so.
Or explore how to gain the knowledge and understanding of the Talmudic scholars by attending our Bagels and Bible study group every Saturday morning (free bagels and coffee for everyone).
Just as the two biblical excerpts written on the parchment of the mezuzah on our door posts stress the importance of the study of Torah and the education of the young Bet Breira is also a constant reminder to us for the need of ongoing Jewish education and learning. |
